Poetry: Beyond the Clouds

R S Bridle

Beyond the clouds the sun is shining,
There the skies are ever blue,
Lonely heart, in darkness pining,
One there is who cares for you.
Far above the storm and tempest,
Far beyond the shades of night -
Jesus dwells where all is sunshine,
In the realms of glory bright.

There, for you, He’s ever pleading;
Well thine every fear He knows,
Who, each moment interceding,
Wondrous deep compassion shows.
His were once the clouds of sorrow,
E’en the sun her face did hide,
As amidst the awful darkness
Jesus suffered, bled, and died.

Now, beyond this vale of sadness
And the stormy skies above,
Jesus lives where all is gladness,
Full of sympathy and love.
Trust in Him, O heart so weary,
Trust Him through the darkest night:
He who made the golden sunrise
Turns thy darkness into light.
