The Lord’s Work & Workers

SCOTLAND

MID SCOTLAND AND FIFE

Bible Exhibition: The visits of this exhibition to St Monans, Cowdenbeath, and Ballingry in Fife during the month of June achieved much in each location. Many hundreds of school children and their teachers attended and quickly became absorbed in it and responded enthusiastically to the quiz at the end. Good numbers of local people also visited, many who had not been in the halls before, and helpful conversations were held. May God bless His Word and the presentation of it in this effective manner.

Prayer is requested for a number of activities in the Gospel over the summer months. Please remember

N. IRELAND

Co. ANTRIM

Ballyclare: Gospel meetings commenced on the 17th June. Speakers T Topley and C Law. Prayer valued.

Ballymena (Harryville): Gospel meetings continue at Slaght in a portable hall at the end of May. Large numbers attending with strong interest. The saints are thankful for indications of blessing.

Lisburn (Moneybroom): Gospel meetings in a portable hall concluded on 27th May. T Armstrong and D Gilliland. The meetings were well attended with local people regularly present, and the gospel much appreciated.

Co. ARMAGH

Bleary: J Rogers and S Gilfillan continue in a portable hall with the gospel. Attendance very good with several unsaved nightly.

Ardmore Gospel Hall: Gospel meetings were continuing at the end of May in a portable hall some 2 miles from the above hall with J Martin and W Martin. Numbers have been disappointing, although some have come from the district.

Cloonroot Gospel Hall: J Fleck and A Colgan are in the third week in the gospel at the end of May.

Newtownhamilton Area: Gospel meetings are continuing into a fifth week at 21st May in the Primary School. Local interest in the surrounding area is poor, but some Christians’ children are attending.

Co. DOWN

Moneyreagh (Ballykeel Road): J McCann and S Nelson were in the fifth week of gospel meetings at the end of May with some interest.

Newtownbreda Gospel Hall: The assembly here celebrated 50 years of assembly testimony at the beginning of May with 2 special meetings for fellowship and ministry, when the goodness and blessing of God over the years in souls being saved were recounted. The assembly has grown from small beginnings and now has over 80 members in fellowship. The ministry was fitting for the occasion and much appreciated by all who were present. The speakers were T Meekin, J G Hutchinson and J Flanigan.

In marking this milestone there followed two weeks of gospel meetings with Ian Jackson who presented the message with clarity and power. The meetings were well attended and the people were left without excuse. The coming day will reveal what God has wrought.

Drumlough (Rathfriland): A good company was present for the Annual Conference on 16th May. Practical and helpful ministry was given by brethren S Wells, T Meekin, J G Hutchinson, W J Nesbitt and B Currie.

Portavogie Gospel Hall (New Road): Having changed the date of the Annual Conference to the Saturday before Easter, the assembly has been encouraged by the increase in numbers attending. The Lord’s presence was felt in the ministry which was given by J Flanigan, M Radcliffe, B Currie, J Paterson Snr, A Davidson, S Ferguson, S McBride and T Bentley. The theme in the ministry majored on encouragement to participate in the work of the Lord and the upbuilding of the assembly.

The assembly had a visit from M Radcliffe for ministry during the last week in May. A very profitable time.

Co. LONDONDERRY & Co. DONEGAL

Bellaghy: The annual conference was well attended with ministry from D Ussher, W Boyd, A Davidson, S Wells, J Martin, S McBride, G Buchanan, S Ferguson, S Maze. The ministry was considered to be very helpful. Portuguese people continue to attend the meetings; please pray that soon some will be saved.

Bridgetown: G Stewart and S Patterson have concluded six weeks of meetings in the portable hall with good attendance and further blessing in salvation.

Moneydig: D McGarvey and S Maze have finished six weeks of meetings in the Gospel Hall. Although the area was well visited the response was disappointing, but a number of good conversations were had on the doorsteps. Believers were very faithful in bringing their children to the meetings and no doubt the good seed of the Word of God has been sown in their minds and hearts.

EIRE

DUBLIN

Rathmines Gospel Hall: The annual meeting of believers was held on the first Saturday and Lord’s Day in May. The saints were encouraged by helpful ministry and warm fellowship was enjoyed with those visiting from other parts of Ireland and beyond.

Brother J Flanigan visited the assembly at the end of the month for a children’s prize-giving and four nights’ ministry on the subject "The Lord in the Gospels".

FOREIGN

Brother Bobbie Eadie (Northern Ireland) had a profitable time in Australia in the gospel. He had four weeks at Wilston Gospel Hall, Brisbane, and three weeks at Burleigh Heads Gospel Hall, Queensland, with a good interest and blessing in salvation in both places for which we thank God.

ENGLAND & WALES

Joe Baxter concluded three weeks of gospel tent meetings at the site of the former Southfield Gospel Hall, a couple of miles from the assembly at The Grove, Ealing. These were the first such tent meetings in the greater London area for a generation. Some 8,000 invitations were distributed in conjunction with open-air preaching and door-to-door visits. Approximately 40 lost souls attended, most of whom were local residents. Some were clearly affected by the gospel. Encouraging support was provided by other assemblies and prayer is appreciated for follow-up work in the locality.

WEST MIDLANDS

Birmingham, Northfield: The Annual Conference at Quarry Lane was a time of rich ministry from P Scarsbrook and D West. There was much help and encouragement for the saints who came from both near and far.

Birmingham, Small Heath: J Coltman spoke at this year’s Annual Conference at Herbert Road. The ministry was presented with conviction and spiritual depth.

Broadwas on Teme: J McMaster and A Stevenson respectively ministered the Word at the last two Saturday Ministry Meetings of the 2006/7 programme. The saints were helped by the ministry.

Coventry, Upper Hill Street: P Coulson ministered the Word for a number of evenings at the end of May covering the Epistle of Jude. A profitable time appreciated by the saints.

Redditch, Batchley Estate: D Tinkler spent a weekend with the assembly in May giving help in ministry and other ways. He is expected, God willing, to give further help in gospel work in the autumn.
