SCOTLAND

Gospel Meetings with Blair Martin at Bethany Hall Glenburn, Prestwick.

Much planning and prayerful preparation went before the 3 weeks of meetings held at the beginning of April. Over 5,000 tracts and invitations were distributed to the homes in the locality and invitations to the children's Holiday Club were given in at the local Glenburn Primary School.

For some months before the meetings a number of young teenagers and pre-teen children had been attending the Sunday evening gospel meeting. They continued to come to the meetings with regularity and some were clearly impressed by the plain pointed preaching of the gospel. Other adults from the locality came as well and some were brought by believers from other assemblies. Overall there were more unbelievers attending these meetings than have been for a good number of years. The support from other Ayrshire assemblies was outstanding and meant that the hall was well filled every night.

The gospel was faithfully and powerfully proclaimed each evening and the assembly was greatly encouraged during this time. One of the local sisters was able to arrange a lunch in her home and over a dozen local women were present to hear Blair Martin relate the gospel from his own conversion experience.

During the middle week of the meetings a Bible Holiday Club was held in the mornings each day from Monday to Friday. This lasted for about 2 hours, with the first part being crafts and table top games, then a break for refreshments, and during the second part messages about some of the miracles were used to present the gospel. At the end a quiz was given and the focus for the week was on John 3.16.which was also the subject of a collage made by the children. Over the week more than 90 children attended with regular numbers in the fifties each day. One of the features was that some parents attended each day as well, with a few who were contacted through the weekly parents and toddlers group coming along. The register kept will afford the opportunity to follow up these contacts for future children's work if the Lord wills.

We give thanks to God for such an encouraging time and feel sure that eternity will reveal lasting fruit as a result of these meetings.

SOUTH WALES

Cardiff: The assembly at The Heath held three weeks of gospel meetings for children and adults from 30th March to 17th April with our brother Dan Gillies. A dozen new children joined the regulars in attending the children's meetings, and approximately 25-30 adults, who had never been into the hall before, were under the sound of the gospel. Local brethren joined our brother in the door-to-door visitation each afternoon, and there were many opportunities to present the gospel. Parents of the children, both new and existing, came along to the meetings and listened to the message. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit were very evident in these meetings. About halfway through the series the young son of a Zambian couple, who are in fellowship in the assembly, made a profession, and on the last night a teenage girl told us that during the meeting she had trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour. Much prayer has gone up for both these young people in the past, and we acknowledge our gratitude to God for these answers to prayer. A Roman Catholic man in his fifties, who lives just a few doors from the hall but had never been in before, attended almost every day. He was deeply challenged by the message of the gospel and the simplicity of the gatherings, but could not get away from the idea that he had to do something to earn his salvation. Do join us in prayer for him that his blinded eyes might be opened to the truth of God's Word.

SOUTH WEST

Saltash: In March the saints were greatly encouraged through seeing six young people baptised in the presence of many unbelievers and believers. Two of these young people have been received into the assembly.

WEST MIDLANDS

Redditch, Batchley Estate: The brother originally expected for ministry at the April Saturday Ministry Meeting was not fit enough to travel for medical reasons, but D Gillies, who was conducting gospel meetings in Cardiff, kindly came up to give valued help. The ministry was a blessing and an encouragement to all.
