With Christ

Mrs Henrietta Cochrane, aged 91, was called home on 30th October. Our dear sister was saved, baptised in her teens, and received into fellowship in the Kirkintilloch Assembly. After marriage to her late husband William she had fellowship with the saints at New Stevenston, Alloa, and them at Wishaw from 1965. The Lord blessed the marriage with 6 children who all came to know the Lord as their Saviour. She was a true helpmeet to her husband and was an example to all who knew and loved her. While her last few years were spent in Auchlochan she maintained a love for her Lord and his people. Please remember her family and relatives in prayer.

Miss Margaret Fulton, aged 94, was called home on 30th October. She was saved as a girl, baptised at 16 years of age, and received into fellowship at Chappell Street Gospel Hall, Barrhead. Our sister was in continuous fellowship in this assembly for 78 years. She had a good testimony and was greatly respected and loved by all who knew her. Only in the last few years was she unable to attend the meetings. She will be greatly missed by her niece and family and by the assembly.

Mrs May Greer, aged 90, went to be with Christ on 24th October. She was saved as a young woman in 1942, and with her husband Billy, who pre-deceased her in 1980, was received into the assembly at Broomhedge in 1944, where she remained until the end. A woman of sterling character who loved the Lord and His people, she had a great interest in missionaries and their work in a prayerful and practical way. She was faithful to the Lord and the assembly which will feel her loss. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and family. Her funeral services were conducted by J Hughes and R Pickering.

Mr J Edwin Long, aged 64, on 14th November, at home after a long illness borne with patience and dignity. He was saved in February 1964 and was in fellowship in Cardy Assembly. He was in the car trade and had a successful business, his customers speaking highly of his care and help. Knowing of the serious nature of his illness, he asked the hospital to allow him to go and speak at the Lord’s Day evening gospel meeting. He notified his customers and other car dealers, asking them to attend the meeting, which they did in large numbers, some never having been in the hall before, and he told how he was saved, and his son gave a short and simple gospel message. The very large funeral was conducted by J G Hutchinson, with J Palmer paying tribute and B Currie giving a timely Scriptural message. D Williamson spoke at the grave, giving a suitable gospel message on John 3.16, with M Radcliffe closing in prayer. Prayer valued for his widow, son and daughter who are all in assembly fellowship and helpful.

Mr Angus MacLeod, aged 92, was called home on 12th October. Led to the Lord at the age of 20 by a godly couple in their home, he immediately developed an interest in Bible study and became active in the service of the Lord. For seventy years he ministered the Word and preached the gospel widely in west and central Scotland. Initially associated with the assembly at Halfway, Cambuslang, later moves took him to Bridge of Weir, Kilmacolm, Tarbolton, and since 1989 to Woodpark, Ayr. He was well respected by neighbours and had a good testimony. In 1958 he witnessed great blessing at Kilmacolm where many people were saved, and as a result he developed a burden for revival, often praying, "Do it again, Lord". Prayer would be appreciated for Jenny, his dear wife of 67 years, his 2 daughters, and the wider family circle.

Mrs Georgina Milne, aged 92, on 29th October. She was saved when she was 17 attending Mr F Knox’s tent meetings, and after baptism was received into Lower Windsor Assembly, Belfast. She was married in 1941 to Mr J Milne. In February 1947, commended by Lower Windsor and 4 neighbouring assemblies, they left to serve the Lord in Venezuela which they did in a devoted and diligent way. In the first year they lost their girl Rhoda Ann aged two, but later Ruth and Arnot were born to join Ashley, who was born in Ireland. Despite many hardships and heartbreaks Georgina worked faithfully and tirelessly as wife, mother, and missionary in the service of the Lord in San Felipe, assisting her husband as he preached the gospel and taught the believers. God gave them to see His work prospering, people getting saved and assemblies being formed. In their late seventies they came back to Ireland and lived for some time in Lisburn. Joe was a pleasant happy man always welcomed wherever he went in gospel or ministry. In later days due to health problems they retired to Faith House, where they received medical and loving care and help. At her funeral on 3rd November, her son-in-law Mr Alan Gillespie conducted the service, with several members of the family paying glowing tributes. Mr J G Hutchinson gave Scriptural messages at the funeral parlour and the grave. The hymn at the grave, "How good is the God we adore", seemed to give the feelings of all. Forthcoming Meetings
