The Lord's Work & Workers

SCOTLAND

Fife:

The assembly which has been meeting since 1970 in the Ballingry Gospel Hall in Southfield Avenue moved into a fine new, purpose built Gospel Hall in Glencraig in early September. The now vanished mining community of Glencraig was in fact where the assembly met prior to 1970, and so their new location is very appropriate in the centre of an area known as Benarty. The opening of the new hall was skillfully advertised by personal visits and leaflets, and it created great interest among the local people, over 100 of whom came in to view the hall on the 'official' opening night, Friday 11 September. Before that there were 4 nights of well attended children's meetings with Graeme Patterson as the preacher, and into the following week more formal Gospel meetings were held for three more nights with good numbers of locals coming to hear the preaching. The believers were greatly encouraged and are seeking the Lord's help to develop the many contacts made during these special events.

N. IRELAND & EIRE

Co. ANTRIM

Antrim and Dundesert: Two weeks of Gospel Meetings were held in a tent from 16th-28th August, sited near Belfast International Airport on a field owned by one of the Antrim assembly members. The tent was full most nights. A good number from the district attended to hear the Gospel faithfully presented by Roland Pickering. While unsaved were present from the district, and families of the saints there each night, we did not hear of any conversions. The good seed of the Word was sown and watered, we leave the results to the Lord of the harvest.

Ballymena (Harryville): W Martin and T Armstrong concluded 8 weeks of Gospel Meetings at the end of September. Attendance was maintained throughout, with neighbouring assemblies giving much appreciated support. Over the period many unsaved attended and the Lord's presence experienced. The assembly has been greatly encouraged in seeing blessing in salvation, all young lives with much potential.

Ballywatermoy: J Fleck had well attended Ministry Meetings at the end of September with teaching from some of the metaphors in Paul's writings.

Cross Keys: A well attended series of Children's Meetings was held in the hall to recommence the season's work with the local children. L Craig was responsible for the meetings.

Kells: L Craig was with the Kells assembly for a week of ministry. The subject was "Select Studies in the Psalms." A good number attended each night.

Lisburn (Wallace Avenue): L Craig was with the assembly for a week of ministry meetings on key themes of 2 Peter.

Portrush: E Fairfield and R O'Neill concluded on the 4th October. Encouraging numbers attended from the community. The saints were diligent, working together for the sake of the Gospel.

BELFAST

Bloomfield Gospel Hall: The believers had three weeks of well attended Gospel Meetings which concluded on 2nd October. Everyone worked hard visiting the area and bringing friends, relatives and contacts to the meetings. A good number needing salvation were present each night, some who had not been in the hall for many years. The hall was packed on two evenings and again it is a long time since this happened. The gospel was preached simply and clearly by M Radcliffe and J Rogers who spoke with earnestness and warmth and also engaged in regular visitation of the area. Looking to God for blessing from the seed sown.

Newtownbreda Gospel Hall: The assembly enjoyed three nights of ministry by R Reynolds on the subject of "Divine Provision for Progress in the Pilgrim Pathway" dealing with the Saviour, the Scriptures and the Judgment Seat. The ministry was interesting, fresh, instructive, heart-warming and practical.

Co. ARMAGH

Lurgan: Gospel Meetings concluded mid September with D Gilliland and J Rogers. Large numbers attended and the assembly was amazed at the large numbers of locals who attended during the effort. Prayer is requested that the good seed sown will bring forth fruit.

ENGLAND & WALES

Bicester

The assembly rented a nearby Village Hall for four Sundays in September and the believers were encouraged to see numerous new faces at the meetings where the gospel was well presented.

Wallingford

The assembly had a Bible Exhibition in late September for one week. Attendance was slow with the general public but several good contacts were made with local believers. Six classes of children from local schools came along, and with the weekly children's meetings it totalled about 150 along with staff. J Black from Bexley Heath helped during the exhibition week and this was followed by gospel meetings. Again these were poorly attended but one or two unbelievers were present each night, either brought or invited by those in the assembly. On the last night 60 were present, some from neighbouring assemblies with 20 teenagers from the regular Friday night work. Pray for God's blessing on all who heard the gospel faithfully preached.

Northampton

Steve Buckeridge was with the assembly for a week of gospel meetings in September. A few souls came in nightly to hear the Word of God.

Greenwich

Jonathan Black and Kevin Oh rented a Community Centre in East London in September and were pleased to see a good number in each night to hear the gospel.

Rugby World Cup Outreach

During September and October several venues in England and Wales hosted matches in the 2015 Rugby World Cup tournament. Andrew Bennett (Kirkby) and Stephen Buckeridge (Datchet) saw this as a great opportunity for evangelism and co-ordinated the printing and distribution of 164,000 specially prepared tracts to be offered to those attending the various matches.

Younger believers were involved in writing and designing the tract, and in the design and development of the accompanying website. Teams would come from across the world, so the tract contained a message in English and French, or English and Welsh, with John 3.16 in English, Welsh, French, Italian, and Spanish on the back. The help of those fluent in these languages was appreciated.

As a means of follow-up, those who received the tract were pointed to the website created for the outreach www.ultimateconversion.co.uk, featured on the back of the tract as a web address or a QR code. Stephen Baker (Liverpool) kindly provided a video gospel message specific to the event, which can be watched on the website.

The matches in Twickenham, Wembley, and the Olympic Stadium, London, together with those in Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Milton Keynes, and Newcastle formed the main focus of the work, but believers elsewhere also used the tract in their own areas.

The interest amongst the Lord's people in supporting this outreach was most encouraging and prayer would be valued that the Seed sown might be blessed.
