John 6.17: "Jesus had not yet come to them" (RV)

The night was dark, the waves rose high,
The wind was fierce, and contrary;
The seamen thought their end was nigh -
Their Lord had not yet come.

The night is dark, the storms severe,
Hearts are heavy, filled with fear,
And many an eye is dimmed with tears -
Our Lord has not yet come.

But dawn will break, the storms will cease,
That heaven of rest we’ll reach in peace!
For sighing saints a sweet release -
The Lord Himself shall come!

- Bob Cargill, St Monans (1911- 2000)
