This year again, if the Lord will, the assembly at Portstewart will be embarking on their "Drive in Gospel Outreach" at the Pits Car Park, Portrush Road, Portstewart. This large car park area has been kindly granted to us by the Coleraine and District Motor Club. The forty foot curtain-sided trailer will again be parked on the site, from 9th July to 27th August inclusive, and the gospel will be preached each Lords Day evening at 8.30 to those who will drive in to listen.
The number of those who came in 2005 was most encouraging. Portstewart is a very popular destination for the Sunday driver who wishes to have a time of relaxation beside the sea. There were approximately 150 cars each Sunday evening and we pray that this will continue. We believe that there will be those who will be hearing the gospel for the first time, as many will drive into the meeting who would not come to a regular Sunday evening gospel meeting in a Gospel Hall. We sow the good seed and leave the harvest with Lord.
A large group of young believers help on Sunday afternoons with the distribution of specially printed flyers which are given to motorists along the local promenade and in car parks. There are a number of caravan parks in the area which are also visited on a regular basis when the residents are invited to come to the Pits Car Park to hear the gospel. The reception and response from the people has been very favourable.
We are also grateful for the dedicated team of young men who greet those arriving at the site. Each visitor is given a hymn sheet and a gospel tract, and they are guided to an appropriate parking place in an orderly fashion.
Please pray that God will grant favourable weather conditions and, most of all, that there will be power in the preaching which will result in the salvation of the lost. "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel" (Mk 16.15).
